Word of welcome!

The Friendship Force Quebec Region welcomes you on its web site where you will find  essential information regarding its international and and regional organization.

For members of the 350 other clubs around the world, we hope that this site will allow you to get to know our part of the world a little better and that you will use it to communicate directly with us when planning your future exchanges.

Friendship Force International

Friendship Force International (FFI) was founded in 1977 by Mr Wayne Smith. On March 1st 1977, President Jimmy Carter announced officially its foundation during a Governors of States reunion at the White House. Mrs. Rosalynn Carter was then named the Honorary President of the Association and a member of its Board of Directors until 2003.

The Friendship Force main objective is to create an environment where personal friendship may be established between individuals despite the international barriers of races and languages that separate peoples

This objective is reached through traveling exchanges where ambassadors stay in  family homes in a foreign country or region for a period of one week.

The hosting homes are not paid for to receive ambassadors who pay, in addition to their travelling costs , organization fees which cover all the operation costs of  The Friendship Force.

Since the beginning of the program  in 1977, more than 140,000 ambassadors and 400,000 hosts have participated in 3,300 exchanges thereby touching the lives of 2 million people while spreading the motto of  The Friendship Force: A WORLD OF FRIENDS IS A WORLD OF PEACE .There are now more than 350 clubs in 58 countries and 41 US states. The Head Office of  Friendship Force International is located in Atlanta Georgia USA and operated with  minimal professional staff.

The Friendship Force of Quebec Region

The Friendship Force of Quebec Region was formed in September 1997, due  to the tenacity of Mr. Gilles Hardy, the support of the Friendship Force club of the Ottawa Region and in a wake of  twinning the city of St Raymond with a city in France where exchanges were also involved.

Its activities also spreads  to the greater Quebec City area. The club aims at regrouping people from different municipalities in the Québec region

Today, the club has about thirty members and the goal is to reach 100 members. Its members come from places such as St.Raymond, St.Foy, St. Augustin, Cap Rouge and Quebec city.

In addition to our organization activities, we have exchanges each year. You will find details on them under the heading Exchanges.

Those activities allow our members to get to know people of other cultures and races speaking different languages. They will also get to now each other better by sharing common activities.

Social activities are also organized by the club with  invitation to potential members to get them to know  about the organization and invite them to join our membership.

If you believe that friendship between people from different nations with different cultures may help to build a better world, you are cordially invited to join The Friendship Force Québec Region and by this way help to promote PEACE IN THE WORLD.
